MIRCO GRASSO

I was born and raised in the province of Venice, not really in an alpine-climbing context... as a child with parents and uncles we went to the mountains for ferratine and hiking but nothing more. Before I approached climbing around the age of twenty, in my free time besides playing basketball, I was increasingly beginning to have a desire(or the need?) to put myself in conditions of "adventure," that is, to find myself in situations that are never taken for granted, where you have to make choices, even trivial ones, but which can change the course of events, in short, mountaineering.. That period could have been choosing one trail in the mountains over another or to traveling by setting off with no definite destinations and letting what happens take you.

So after a year in Australia, partly out of curiosity but mostly with the hope of understanding how the mountains worked beyond trails and via ferratas, I got into sport climbing at a gym in my neck of the woods. From there on it was and still is a continuous discovery and mutation of the way I like to go to the mountains, trying to reconcile it with my current job as an IT consultant in the Business Intelligence branch. I really enjoy climbing in all its forms, from bouldering to big winter walls. It is great to use these disciplines as a means of discovering new, perhaps remote or little-visited places, getting to know different cultures, and trying to walk imaginary lines that have never been climbed, lines that first take shape in dreams and nightmares. All this without ever forgetting to have fun and get involved.
